Challenge
We worked with UMW and branding agency Mindpower to define, design and build a new, unified experience for the university. The result is a beautiful, cohesive and scalable system that allows all site visitors to engage with the content and information that’s right for them while allowing site editors the flexibility to create new experiences as needs arise on campus and off.
Product Challenge
Too much information
The University of Mary Washington used to have it’s content spreaded across multiple sites, making navigation hard to manage and user flows complicated for prospective and current students.
On top of that user interviews showed that audiences were having a bad time finding what they were looking for, using that in our favours we decided on taking an audience based approach to navigation.
First Sketch
Some Wireframes
With a sitemap in mind our next step was to design some wireframes to get an idea on how content design and the design system would play out
Fresh New Visuals
A Visual Rebrand
UMW had been through a fresh new visual overhaul and our job was to replicate that into the digital brand as well, we did some moodboards to set the tone for the website

The Solution
A New Program Finder
One of the biggest challenges of redesigning a Higher Ed website is the Program Finder, with UMW it was not different, our goal was to allow people to filter based on interests in order to read more information on the programs they might be interest on taking in the future.
